Frequently Asked Questions

How do I enroll my child?
Call the center nearest you. You will be asked basic information about you and your child and will be invited to tour the center. During this tour we will discuss our child care program and your child care needs. Your child is welcome to join you for this visit. Once you decide to enroll, you will be given a packet, including a medical form that needs to be completed by your child’s physician. A few days before your child is expected to start, we encourage you to participate in “phase-in”. This gradual adjustment process enables you and your child to get used to separating while giving the teachers and staff a chance to get to know you and your child.

What are the fees?
Early Discoveries Center’s fees are competitive with other center based child care providers. Our rates are based on the number of hours a day, days per week, and the age of your child. We also offer a 20% discount for the second child if you have more than one child enrolled. There are no hidden fees. The director will go over your individual needs and specific rates and fees during your tour.

Can I choose my own schedule?
Early Discoveries Center is open Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Within these hours you define the number of hours, schedule and days of attendance. It is important that you maintain your scheduled time so we can ensure appropriate staffing.

How can I help my child adjust to child care?
Each child adjusts to child care differently. Your child’s reaction to you leaving may also change from developmental stage to developmental stage. We encourage all families to participate in “phase – in”. This gradual process of spending time in the classroom enables your child to get comfortable in the classroom and for your child and teacher to get to know each other. It is also important to maintain a regular and predictable schedule. This will build your child’s confidence that you will always come back. Our teachers and child care directors have extensive experience in early childhood education and child care and are here to help you and your child have the best experience possible.

What if my child is sick?
We have a strong obligation to maintain a safe and healthy environment for all children at Early Discoveries Center. To maintain a healthy environment, we cannot provide care for ill children. A child who exhibits the following symptoms will be excluded from participation: a fever (depending on the age of the child); diarrhea or vomiting; any unexplainable skin rash; and cold symptoms which prevent participation in the program (such as sleepiness from medication or a deep bronchial cough). Your child must be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to the center. In addition, parents will be notified in writing if a child is exposed to any contagious illnesses.

Will my child be ready for kindergarten?
At Early Discoveries Center we feature The Creative Curriculum® for preschoolers. This is a research proven curriculum designed to help children develop the social, emotional, early literacy, math, science, and physical skills they will need for kindergarten and beyond.    Click here to learn more about our Preschool program.
