Programs and Curriculum
At Early Discoveries Center we understand the importance of providing a loving, safe, and stimulating environment for infants. We understand the importance of emotional attachments with loving teachers and that these delicate formative months can shape a baby’s view of the world. Babies as young as two months benefit from low staff to baby ratios and small group sizes of no more than eight babies per room. Teachers have optimal time to hug, rock, cuddle, play and interact with each child individually.
Age appropriate toys and equipment make discovering the world fun. A safe environment ensures children will develop in healthy ways while putting your mind at ease.
Infant curricula are individualized depending on the age and developmental stage of each child. Gross motor development may include strengthening neck muscles or pulling up to a standing position. Fine motor skill development could include learning to reach for a toy or eating finger food. Teachers focus on language development by talking with children, reading to them, and making musical activities a part of the daily routine. Social skills are developed as children get older and can interact in small groups. Indoor and outdoor activities are also part of each day’s activities.
Parent Communication
At Early Discoveries Center we maintain an open door policy. Parents are welcome to call anytime to see how their child is doing or to visit their baby anytime throughout the day. Many parents, who work locally, enjoy lunch time together or even come in to nurse or feed their babies.
Our infant rooms maintain detailed “tracking sheets.” When you pick up your baby at the end of the day you will know exactly when your baby slept, what and when your baby ate, and when your baby’s diaper was changed. Daily lesson plans tell parents the specific activities their child participated in. Teachers are available everyday to tell how a child’s day was and how each child is developing.
